The beginning of my Yoga journey.

I was 14 when I first stepped onto a Yoga mat, and if you’d told me then how much it would change my life, I wouldn’t have believed you. Like most teenagers, I was trying to navigate the chaos – school deadlines, shaky friendships, the endless pressure to figure out who I was supposed to be.

Yoga wasn’t some grand revelation; it was just a quiet escape, a small pocket of peace I stumbled into without knowing how much I needed it. That first session wasn’t perfect – I had no idea what I was doing, I felt intimidated, and frustrated with my own abilities – but something unexpected happened. I felt lighter afterward, like I’d been holding my breath without realising. It wasn’t just the stretches or the poses; it was the stillness between them, the rhythm of moving and breathing that whispered, “You can let go now.”

What I’ve learned since then is that Yoga isn’t about touching your toes or nailing the perfect pose, it’s about showing up for yourself. It’s about finding balance – not just on the mat but in the messy, beautiful chaos of life. That’s what kept me coming back, and that’s what inspires me to share this practice with others.

If you’re curious about Yoga but hesitant to start – I get it. I remember hiding at the back of the room, too self-conscious to lift my arms in case someone noticed I didn’t know what I was doing. But here’s the thing: Yoga doesn’t care if you’re flexible or if you’ve never stretched a day in your life. It meets you where you are. In my classes, you don’t need to impress anyone. You just need to show up – for yourself. Whether you’re here to shake off the stress of a long day, build strength, or simply breathe a little easier, Yoga can give you what you need.

So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign, maybe this is it. A quiet nudge to step onto the mat and see where it takes you. I’d love to guide you through your first steps or your hundredth, helping you discover how this practice can brighten your journey, just as it’s brightened mine.
